Samurai trumpeter Takuya Kuroda, who is at the forefront of contemporary jazz, appears with his big band, aTak band. In 2014, as the first Japanese artist on the prestigious Blue Note label, he made his major debut with “Rising Sun.” Since then, based in New York, he has built a worldwide career. In addition to his own projects, he has collaborated with DJ Premier and Akoya Afrobeat Ensemble, and domestically with MISIA, JUJU, and cero, while also active as a member of J-Squad, continually drawing strong attention. Last August, he released his sixth album, “Fly Moon Die Soon.” This record, with its overwhelming groove and melodies, and sharp trumpet playing, earned high praise from American media. One of the world-class trumpeters in every sense, Takuya Kuroda and the aTak band create dynamic, genre-spanning beats that go beyond jazz—be sure to experience the energy at the venue.
