Cellist Hiroki Kashiwagi, who is said to have the cello’s timbre closest to the human voice, wields his instrument with total versatility and aims for music filled with smiles, calling himself the “Cello Entertainer.” He has performed with violinist Taro Hakase, pianist Yukie Nishimura, and guitarist Kotaro Oshio, and as a producer and composer-arranger his activities span a wide range, including providing music for films and television programs, and collaborations in readings and tap dancing. In addition, on the nationwide “Two-Person Journey” tour teamed with pianist Kenichi Mitsuda, their performances—tight playing and banter—have been highly acclaimed year after year. Having appeared at Billboard Live many times, Kashiwagi has chosen Billboard Live as the stage for the first installment of his milestone 20th-anniversary solo concert.
