Lisa Ono, who has established an unassailable position as a pioneer of Japan’s bossa nova, will appear at Billboard Live in early winter. She debuted in 1989 with the album Katopiri, and her 1999 album Dream sold over 200,000 copies. She has also been awarded the Japan Gold Disc Award in the Jazz category four times. Moreover, she has cultivated friendships with the gods of bossa nova—Antonio Carlos Jobim and João Gilberto, who passed away the year before last—and has continued to perform worldwide.
