Cory Henry, a Hammond organist rooted in funk and gospel and a former member of Snarky Puppy—the Brooklyn-based music collective—will perform. Raised playing church music, he stepped onto the Apollo Theater stage at age six, and in his teens was recruited into Kenny Garrett's band, launching his career. In 2016, his solo album The Revival reached No. 2 on the US Jazz charts, establishing his presence. In 2018, with fellow veterans of the scene, he formed The Funk Apostles and released their debut album Art of Love, updating 70s soul and funk for the modern era. That record also led to collaborations with Lauryn Hill and Vulfpeck. Experience this highly anticipated performance by a leading figure in today’s vibrant modern jazz scene.
