Having made a full comeback as a musician, Tetsuya Komuro’s latest chapter, titled HIT FACTORY #1, followed last year’s sold-out Rebooting 1.0 performances and, in January 2022, was held across four days and eight shows at Billboard Live Osaka and Billboard Live Tokyo, with all performances sold out instantly. To meet the expectations of the many fans who want to experience the sound Komuro is producing now, additional performances were newly scheduled at Billboard Live Osaka as well. On a stage framed by a Steinway grand piano and Komuro’s signature synthesizer booth (YAMAHA MONTAGE, Roland JD-08, Moog ONE, Virus TI Polar, Indigo Redback), the performances are heavily improvisational, with the groove of the day—“no two performances will ever be the same.” From the 1980s to the 2020s, drawing from more than 1,600 compositions he has written, he takes the stage solo, performing and singing a carefully curated set list that encompasses a wide range of styles.
