Jazz legend Chick Corea, who sadly left this world in February of last year, made remarkable achievements as a jazz pianist and a pioneer of electric keyboards, and left behind a legendary legacy with a diverse career spanning solo to ensembles and more than 20 Grammy Awards. Tonight, on Billboard Live Osaka’s stage, a lineup of superb players inheriting the spirit of that legend gathers: the world’s top drummer, Steve Gadd, renowned for collaborations with big-name artists across genres; Mika Stoltzman, a new-genre marimba player who masterfully blends classical and jazz, including the world premiere of Chick Corea’s Concerto No. 1; clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, whose distinctive approach has earned worldwide acclaim as a captivating recitalist and innovative jazz performer; pianist Tetsu Shioya, a leader of Japan’s music scene as a composer, arranger, and producer, boasting versatile technique; bassist Yosuke Inoue, immensely popular as a first-call player for live performances and recording projects in addition to leading his own groups.
