Lisa Ono, a steadfast pioneer of Japan’s bossa nova, will appear at Billboard Live this autumn. She made her debut in 1989 with the album Katopiri, and her 1999 album Dream was a hit, selling over 200,000 copies. She has also been awarded the Japan Gold Disc Award in the Jazz category four times. In addition, she has cultivated close relationships with the godfather of bossa nova, Antonio Carlos Jobim, and with Joao Donato, a master of jazz samba, continuing to perform worldwide. For this occasion, under the title “Autumn Jazz & Bossa Nova Night,” she will lead a four-member band—Masaki Hayashi (p), Toru Nishijima (b), Dennis Freese (ds), and Hiroshi Suzuki (sax)—for a special performance.
