Japan’s world-renowned jazz trumpeter Kosei Hino will take Billboard Live’s stage once again this year. He began playing the trumpet at age nine, and after his debut he sparked the “Hinoteru Boom,” drawing wide attention and expanding beyond jazz into many arenas. Even after moving his base to New York in 1975, he continued to perform actively both domestically and internationally, earning numerous prestigious awards such as the Purple Ribbon Medal and the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette. This year, the 80-year-old legend leads a group including Ippei Kato (guitar) and other sharp, up-and-coming musicians who are at the forefront of the next generation of the jazz scene.
