An 18-year-old who has been active as a musician since studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, he moved to New York in 2008. Loved by jazz legends Hank Jones and Jimmy Cobb, he became the first Japanese member and the last regular member of the Roy Hargrove Quintet. In September 2020, in pandemic-stricken New York, he fell victim to an Asian hate crime and sustained serious injuries, but with an indomitable spirit and steadfast rehabilitation he made a remarkable comeback, and his return album “Get My Mojo Back” has moved and inspired people around the world.
