PEACE / SADAO WATANABE ORCHESTRA
Sadao Watanabe Orchestra
※This performance will be on a special schedule.
Overview
Japan’s premier saxophonist Sadao Watanabe, who is celebrating his 70th year in music, appears with a big-band project that can be described as one of his lifelong pursuits. Formed in 1995, this big band provides a valuable opportunity for each member to create music centered around Watanabe, and the band’s sound is filled with the joy of the players communicating and playing together. Last December’s concert drew attention by featuring Duke Ellington’s compositions, but this performance will showcase a best selection from the band’s repertoire of over 70 pieces accumulated over more than a quarter-century. It is sure to be a two-day event that jazz fans won’t want to miss.
