Based in Sado, the taiko-performing-arts ensemble Kodo discovers infinite possibilities in traditional musical performing arts centered on the taiko drum and attempts a reinvention for the modern age. Since their debut at the Berlin Festival of the Arts in 1981, they have performed more than 7,000 times in 53 countries and regions. Their activities are not limited to theater performances; they have collaborated with leading artists from various genres, participated in international events and film music, and organized an international arts festival in their home base of Sado.
