Guitarist Yuji Toriyama, along with his longtime ally drummer Akira Jimbo and pianist Hirotaka Izumi, formed the fusion group PYRAMID, which is making a comeback after three years. The three, who have been bandmates since high school and have been leading the scene as composers/producers since the 1980s, formed the group in 2003. After releasing four albums and as they were preparing for their next project in 2021, Izumi suddenly passed away. Toriyama and Jimbo, deciding to continue, completed the album “PYRAMID 5” via crowdfunding, featuring guest appearances by Miho Fukuhara, Kan Sano, and other luxurious guests. For this show, billed as “PYRAMID 5,” mabanua, who contributed as a guest on the album, will perform as a guest. Carrying on Izumi’s wishes, and with the support of many listeners and artists, “PYRAMID 5” was produced, and this live performance will bring it to a close.
