Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham
Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham
Overview
Legendary Southern soul songwriting duo Dan Penn & Spooner Oldham make a miraculous return to the Billboard Live stage. Based in Muscle Shoals and Memphis—hubs of Southern R&B in the 1960s—Penn wrote and produced on Aretha Franklin’s “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man,” as well as works by James Carr, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, and many other masterpieces. Along with him, Spooner Oldham has worked as a studio musician at Muscle Shoals’ famed Fame Studio. Their joint Japan tour in 2019, the first for the pair in 20 years since 1999, is still fresh in memory for moving many fans to tears. The Alabama legend, still active mainly in the United States, invites you to enjoy a special performance that will resonate with a grand Southern sound.
