Toshio Kamei, who began exploring music through the violin at age four and, after debuting with King Records in his university years, built a name for himself as a composer. He has written songs for numerous commercial tunes and for artists including Kumiko Yamashita’s “Bath Room kara Ai o Komete” and Mariko Takahashi’s “Anata no Yokogao,” as well as Seiko Matsuda, Yoko Minamino, and Yuki Saito, among others; he has produced overseas concerts for Tarō Hakase and Makoto Ozone, and in 2019 he declared himself “THE SINGER,” continuing to be active across genres. For this performance, on stage with former Tokyo Symphony Orchestra principal cellist Makito Nishiya, who now pursues a wide range of performing activities; violinist Erina Yumiki, whose activities include not only her own work but also participation in live tours with Motohiro Hata and Ko Shibasaki and notable work with KIRINJI; and violinist Shuga Hayashi, a violinist drawing attention for his/her wide-ranging activities from classical to pop, along with other cutting-edge Kansai-born musicians.
