Having turned 90 in February this year, saxophonist Sadao Watanabe—an embodiment of a “lifelong active” artist—will make a return to Billboard Live Osaka later this year. Leading Japan’s jazz scene and still active on the world’s front lines, he will headline this Christmas-season performance with the members of the U.S.–Japan mixed quartet that successfully performed in New York in 2019. Look forward to an exquisite ensemble featuring Russell Ferrante, Yellowjackets’ pianist; Ben Williams, the bassist Watanabe trusts most; and the prodigiously talented drummer Kazutetsu Takemura, along with other top players from Japan’s jazz world.
