Yoshitaka Minami, a pioneer of Japan's city pop who last year celebrated his 50th anniversary since debut, will take the stage at Billboard Live this spring. He debuted in 1973 with the album Heroine of the Skyscrapers, produced by Takashi Matsumoto, and, with his urbane sound, has had a substantial influence on the music scene—featuring tracks like Monroe Walk and Make It a Slow Boogie. In recent years, in addition to energetic live performances, he has released a collaborative album with Kiyotaka Sugiyama. For this concert, the backing lineup includes renowned musicians Akira Okazawa, Eiji Shimamura, Norito Sumitomo, and Keiji Matsumoto. From a half-century-long career, he will deliver a set of timeless songs in a mature, consummate performance—don’t miss it.
