Joyce Rice, a next-generation R&B singer–songwriter based in Los Angeles, who has an American father and a Japanese mother, makes her return. In her student days, uploading cover songs to video sites drew worldwide attention, and in 2016 she released her 1st EP, Stay Around. Then in 2021, produced by D’Mile, her debut album Overgrown, featuring Lucky Daye, Kaytranada, Mndsgn, and others, became a smash hit. Her music, reminiscent of 90s R&B, and her smooth and elegant vocal tone continue to captivate music fans. She is deeply in love with Japan—her roots—and this is illustrated by releasing a Japanese-language track with fellow Nikkei artist UMI, That's On You (Japanese Remix).
