Bernard Purdie
Bernard Pardy
Overview
Bernard Purdie, famed as “the drummer who has participated in the most recordings on Earth,” returns to the Billboard Live stage for the first time in nearly nine years! Born and raised in Maryland, USA, he began his career as a session drummer in New York in his twenties. His breakout came after taking part in James Brown’s “Ain’t That A Groove” and joining King Curtis’s band, the Kingpins. From 1970 he served as Aretha Franklin’s bandleader, and since then he has left his mark on countless artists’ works across genres, including Steely Dan and Miles Davis. A true groove master who has helped shape music history and continues to influence future generations, don’t miss the chance to experience his virtuoso performances up close.
