Last year’s countdown concert at Billboard Live Yokohama, which closed with great success, is still fresh in memory. The “busiest Swing Big Band in Japan,” Gentle Forest Jazz Band, returns to Billboard Live in Tokyo and Osaka! It will be their first on-stage appearance in Tokyo in about three and a half years, and in Osaka in nine years. Formed in 2005 around Gentle Kubota, the trombone player of Zainichi Funk, they have since infused danceable swing jazz with a contemporary perspective, captivating audiences with new entertainment. While inheriting a traditional style, their activities are not confined to that genre; they have provided music for films, commercials, and variety programs, embodying the very idea of the “busiest big band in Japan today.” This time they bring their eagerly awaited latest album Nice BIG BAND, released on 5/22, to the stage! Led by leader Gentle Kubota, the 17-piece instrumental section and a three-person vocal group—21 talented performers in total—craft a performance full of individuality.
