Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio
Overview
Ray Parker Jr. & Raydio, whose mesmerizing guitar work and grooves captivate fans, are making their comeback to Billboard Live for the first time in about four years.
Ray Parker Jr., born in Detroit in 1954, began his career as a session guitarist in his teens, contributing to albums by Aretha Franklin, Herbie Hancock, the Temptations, and others. Encouraged by Stevie Wonder to pursue songwriting, he wrote the Rufus & Chaka Khan hit “You Got the Love,” further blossoming as a songwriter. At Herbie Hancock’s suggestion to release his own albums, he formed his group Raydio in 1977.
Throughout his lengthy career, he has delivered pop and high-quality soul music. This year, the latest Ghostbusters film in which he wrote the iconic theme in 1984, Ghostbusters: Frozen Summer, has been released, drawing renewed attention to a treasure trove of disco and soul gems that continue to shine across the ages. We hope you thoroughly enjoy a glamorous stage adorned with hit songs that will have you standing up.
