Since debuting as Verve’s first Japanese female singer, jazz singer akiko has not been confined by the boundaries of jazz, absorbing a variety of music and continuing to create with her own sensibility. Recently, she has been the music producer for the autumn film 徒花, and a new album inspired by the film’s worldview is also planned for release.

Now she takes the stage with Atsushi Yanaka, the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra’s baritone saxophonist, who this year is celebrating the 35th anniversary of his debut. Yanaka, renowned for his wide-ranging musical fluency, will select and produce jazz, Brazilian, and film-music classics, and you can also look forward to hearing Yanaka sing jazz numbers—something you don’t often get to see.
