Pushing at the front lines of Japan’s fusion scene, the Katsushika Trio—Tetsuo Sakurai, Akira Jinbo, and Minoru Mukaiya—now comes to the stage in an organic trio live centered on the acoustic piano. Their collaboration as guests at Akira Jinbo’s One-Man Orchestra at Katsushika Symphony Hills sparked their breakout as a colossal new act.

Last year they released their debut album M.R.I_ミライ, which, true to its theme of “adult music without adult pretensions,” boldly seized the No. 1 spot on the iTunes Store Jazz chart, and their momentum has only grown. In September 2024 they released their latest album Uchū no Abarenbō (Uchū no Abarenbō, tentative), and, using their superb technique and an original sound that deftly traces thrilling passages, toured nationwide on the Uchū no Abarenbō (tentative) tour.

These three fusion veterans, each with more than forty years in the business, deliver an organic performance in which they play with sound unabashedly on a simple drum set, bass, and grand piano—an unrestrained, grown-up-free exploration. Look forward to a sublime night on the Billboard Live stage.
