Zainichi Funk Billboard Live Tour 2025
Overview
Tracing its lineage back to James Brown, Zainichi Funk—self-styled as “a new era of deep funk”—is touring Billboard Live across two cities. In 2007, Zainichi Funk was formed around Hamaken, the trombonist of SAKEROCK (Kenta Hamano), and debuted in 2010 with the album ZAINICHI FUNK. In 2024, as they reached their 17th year, guitarist Ryohiko Akogi’s departure was met with mourning, but the band continued with renewed energy in a new lineup, welcoming Kei Koganemaru. The 2024 Billboard Live Tokyo performance drew attention for a collaboration with Masayuki Suzuki, known as the “King of Love Songs,” and in April 2025 a Yokohama show was realized. And now, their first Osaka concert has been announced—a premium club performance delivering exquisite soul and funk that will captivate the audience, at last bridging East and West. Don’t miss this rare year-end standalone show.
