The innovative project led by Roy Hargrove, The RH Factor, also known as "Roy Hargrove’s The RH Factor," is bringing its long-awaited concert to Japan. The sound that deftly fused jazz, R&B, hip-hop, and funk made a major impact on the scene through the 2003 landmark album Hard Groove. A-list artists such as D'Angelo, Q-Tip, Common, Erykah Badu, and Anthony Hamilton also contributed, earning enthusiastic, cross-genre support. Music that centers on rhythm while also boasting rich harmonies and improvisation continues to exert a strong influence across generations. Today, under Roy Hargrove Legacy—founded by Roy's wife Aida Brandes-Hargrove and daughter Kamala Hargrove—the original members who have known him since student days, including Keith Anderson; Jason JT Thomas and Bobby Sparks, who supported him from the earliest days; and Reggie Washington and Willie Jones III, who also played on his debut album, have gathered. Furthermore, by welcoming Renee Neufville of Zhané—one of the figures that symbolize the group's sound—the spirit Roy left behind and his unique groove are revived for the modern era. Additionally, Roy is an artist who has built a long-standing relationship with Japan, including the early-1990s trans-Pacific project "The Jazz Networks."
