Tadashi Kosaka, who has helped lay the foundations of Japan’s R&B, gospel, and pop, takes the stage at Billboard Live leading Japan’s renowned musicians Taiji Sato, KenKen, Gota Yashiki, and Yuta Saito! He debuted in 1966 with The Floral. After the April Fool collaboration with Haruomi Hosono and Takashi Matsumoto, he made his solo debut in 1971. He released many masterpieces, including the Japanese R&B landmark HORO (1975), recorded with Tin Pan Alley. He continued to produce numerous acclaimed works, and in August 2017 he was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. He faced emergency hospitalization and surgery, but gradually began to return from around October. In 2018, Billboard Live staged a full-album recreation of HORO—an iconic 70s rock album that shines brightly in Japan’s music history—and it generated widespread attention.
