SIX LOUNGE, a three-piece rock band from Ōita, makes its Billboard Live debut. Formed in 2012 around Yamaguchi Yuumori (Gt/Vo) and Nagamatsu Shintarō (Dr), the current lineup took shape when Iwao Riku (Ba) joined in 2015. In the same year they signed with THE NINTH APOLLO, an indie label that has produced acts like My Hair is Bad and Hump Back, and in April 2018 they made their major debut under Universal Music’s ZEN MUSIC. They forge a rock ’n’ roll sound that remains true to its core while incorporating a wide range of influences, blending melodies with a pop-song melancholy, and Yamaguchi’s emotional vocals. They have appeared at numerous large-scale music festivals, and their own headlining tours have sold out one after another, quickly making them a leading figure in Japan’s rock scene.

In 2022, marking their 10th anniversary, they announced a move to Sony Music Labels, and have also undertaken anime tie-ins, including for My Hero Academia and Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War. The track “Rika” from their 2016 album 東雲 has in recent years sparked a SNS-driven viral hit, topping Billboard JAPAN’s “TikTok Weekly Top 20” and drawing renewed attention as a fresh calling card. They continue to stay active and expand the possibilities of Japanese-language rock, and their latest stage—a precious club performance delivered in an acoustic setup—offers an intimate, near-distance experience with an superb ensemble and an emotionally rich lyric world.
