Since forming in 1989, Rhymester has pioneered and continued to lead Japan’s hip-hop scene from its dawn. Comprising Utamaru, Mummy-D, and DJ JIN, their authentic 2 MC + 1 DJ hip-hop style has earned them the nickname “King of Stage,” and they have consistently asserted their presence through high-quality live performances. They left a big impact during the COVID era with MTV UNPLUGGED: RHYMESTER (BD/DVD/CD/STREAMING: 2021), which served as a catalyst for forming a band. Since then, they’ve performed band live shows before jazz-club audiences, with tickets selling out immediately as a talked-about show.
