Singer-songwriter Yuji Nakata will launch a three-city Billboard Live Tour, his first in about two years. After his time with the Tsubakiya Quartet, Nakata has continued to be active as a solo artist, releasing a steady stream of original material and touring nationwide. His sultry, velvety voice, backed by solid vocal technique, and his sound and songwriting—rooted in the melodic sensibilities of 70s–80s kayōkyoku/New Music that strongly influenced him in childhood—have built a distinctive worldview that continues to captivate listeners. Having performed on the Billboard Live stage in various configurations and delivered superb performances, Nakata will take the stage this time with a five-piece band featuring trusted, high-caliber players, including Shigeru Komatsu (drums; Nona Reeves). Ahead of the release of what is said to be nearing completion—a new work—experience the latest band ensemble.
