The Room: 28th Anniversary Party
Kyoto Jazz Quartet Live
※ After consulting with the artist, we will once again advance the performance time as follows. (Announcement on May 25)
Overview
As part of The Room’s 28th anniversary celebration, the long-delayed first live performance by Kyoto Jazz Quartet, led by owner Shunya Okino, has finally taken place. It is also fresh in memory that the jazz version of Afronaught’s “Transcend Me,” which wowed a packed audience at Giles Peterson and Patrick Forge’s 2019 event in London, “A Sunday Night at Dingwalls,” was broadcast on World Wide FM.
Shunya Okino’s new project, Kyoto Jazz Quartet, is launching.
This time, since it’s The Room’s 28th anniversary, all of the tracks by Shunya Okino, Hajime Yoshizawa, Mondo Grosso, and Kyoto Jazz Massive will be recreated in jazz versions. The lineup features Hajime Yoshizawa (formerly of Sleep Walker), Katsuhito Koizumi “P” (who has just released a solo album and also joined Kyoto Jazz Sextet), Midorin from Soil & “Pimp” Sessions (who has just released a cover album), and Ayana, a new female jazz vocalist and The Room staff member who debuted her album in March, all fronting the group. Shunya Okino will present The Room’s present and future with live performance.
