With outstanding talent and a sense that has continually stunned listeners, Kazuyoshi Nakamura and Misako Kotani—whose earnest, emotional vocals and sharp lyrics emit a one-of-a-kind presence—have long resonated as singer-songwriters whose debuts are near. Kotani marks her 25th anniversary this year, while Nakamura is about to reach his 25th next year. While each has established their own originality, they have continued to resonate together. They return on stage for the two-man event they held in 2019, “Empathizing with the Value of Correctness.” Nakamura will appear in an acoustic set accompanied by Ritsurō Mitsui, known as the guitarist for LOST IN TIME and THE YOUTH. Kotani’s piano-vocal performances, rendered with dramatic melodies, will likely shine on the Billboard Live stage. The collaboration of these two solitary yet principled figures—who have built their own worlds through twists and turns and who are the conscience of the music scene—is not to be missed.
