Makoto Kawamoto made her major debut in 1996 with “Talent of Love.” She followed up with a string of big-hit singles including “DNA,” “1/2” (the opening theme for the anime Rurouni Kenshin), and “Sakura.” In addition to her solo activities, she has demonstrated a wide range of talents through band projects, providing songs, authoring picture books, and singing in commercials, and has remained active in various fields. She has now reached the 25th anniversary of her debut. This year, sparked by the CD release of her valuable pre-debut demo collection “No.1 Hippie Power,” the remastering and distribution of all tracks from her Sony Music era, and the consecutive release of original music videos on her official YouTube channel, she has been re-evaluated by a broad audience and is drawing significant attention. We can’t help but look forward to what kind of performance she will deliver on Billboard Live’s stage, her first appearance there.
