Billboard JAPAN Women In Music vol.0 Supported by CASIO
Chanmina
Chanmina
Overview
Billboard USA’s event Billboard Women in Music, which has been held since 2007, is set to stage its first Japan edition as a live show across three Billboard Live venues. The event honors artists who have made significant contributions to the music industry and, through their work, empowered women by naming a Woman of the Year each year; in 2022 Olivia Rodrigo won, following past recipients such as Beyoncé and Madonna. In this first domestic edition, female artists who are expected to continue thriving beyond 2023 will appear with different lineups at each venue, performing two shows on the same day.
At Billboard Live Tokyo, Chanmina—a tri-lingual rapper/singer who has made a striking impact as a leading figure in Japan’s female rap scene and who has released songs addressing lookism—will perform. At Billboard Live Yokohama, eill will deliver messages with a silky yet soulful voice that are down-to-earth and relatable, garnering strong support mainly from women of her generation. At Billboard Live Osaka, UA will perform; one of Japan’s leading singers, a mother of four who pursues an alternative path.
