Richard Carpenter, who has helped the Carpenters create timeless classics that have left their mark on music history, makes his first appearance to commemorate Billboard Live’s 15th anniversary. From his youth he blossomed as a musician, debuting in 1969 with the Carpenters, the duo he formed with his sister Karen. After releasing “A Kind of Hush,” they shot to stardom and became emblematic of 1970s pop. Since then, songs such as “Yesterday Once More,” “Superstar,” and “Top of the World” have not faded and continue to captivate listeners around the world. He has also earned high praise in composition and arranging, including six Grammy nominations for Best Arrangement. In October 2021, he released his first solo piano album in 23 years, Piano Songbook, marking his first new work in over two decades. With his Japan visit imminent, it has been decided that Richard’s daughters, Tracy and Mindy, will participate as vocalists in this concert!
