Vocalist Jose James, whose smoky yet mellow voice and distinctive sensibility for expanding jazz continue to update the scene, has decided to stage a premium performance at Billboard Live, featuring the tribute album “On & On: Jose James Sings Badu,” in which he covers Erykah Badu’s signature songs. Since debuting in 2008 with the album The Dreamer, he has continually evolved his musicality, and in 2018 he released a tribute to the legendary R&B singer-songwriter Bill Withers, Lean On Me. Jose is renowned for crafting works that honor artists who have influenced him while offering new interpretations from the perspective of a musician who loves his craft. With a wide range of projects, we look forward to seeing how he brings not only his own songs but also Erykah Badu’s beloved classics to life on stage.
