Charismatic saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings, at the forefront of UK jazz, leads Shabaka and the Ancestors, whose first-ever performances in Japan have been confirmed at Billboard Live Tokyo!

Described as possessing the creativity of 1960s pioneers Joe Harriott and Evan Parker, Shabaka's distinctive, powerful playing has often earned him the titles of "charismatic" or "the king of the saxophone."

The Comet Is Coming, Sons of Kemet, and Shabaka and the Ancestors are his three main projects, and across these endeavors he has received numerous awards, including Jazz FM’s Jazz Act of the Year and MOBO’s Jazz Act of the Year.

Led by him, Shabaka and the Ancestors was formed in 2016 with Africa-rooted artists whom he deeply admired. In 2020, they made their major-label debut on Impulse! with We Are Sent Here by History. They deliver powerful spiritual jazz, and this powerhouse unit continues to shake up today’s jazz scene—don't miss their monumental stage.
