Last year’s countdown live at Billboard Live Yokohama, which ended in a roaring success, is still fresh in memory, and the “busiest” swing big band in Japan—Gentle Forest Jazz Band—is back at Billboard Live in Tokyo and Osaka! In Tokyo it will be their first on-stage appearance in about three and a half years, and in Osaka it’s an astonishing nine years.

Formed in 2005 around Gentle Kubota, the trombone player from Zainichi Funk, they have since infused danceable swing jazz with a contemporary perspective, continually captivating audiences with new entertainment. While inheriting a traditional style, their activities aren’t confined to that genre; they’ve contributed music to film, commercials, and variety programs, embodying the very idea of the “busiest big band in Japan today.”

This time they bring the eagerly awaited latest album Nice BIG BAND, released on May 22, to the stage! Led by leader Gentle Kubota, the 17-piece instrumental section and a trio of vocalists—totalling 21 distinctive, talented performers—deliver a fresh performance that is a must-hear and a must-see.
