Masakazu Sakai to MAGNETS World Tour in Tokyo
Sakai Masaaki and Magnets
Overview
Entertainer Sakai Masaaki, who has excelled as a singer, actor, and host across a wide range of fields and represents Japan, formed a band with the wish “I want to play in the last band of my life”—Sakai Masaaki to MAGNETS (Sakai Masaaki to MAGNETS)—and they will appear at Billboard Live Tokyo.
Sakai Masaaki joined The Spiders at age 16 and debuted in 1965 with “Furi Furi.” After the group disbanded in 1971, he turned to solo activities and won the Japan Record Award’s Popular Prize in the same year for “Saraba Koibito.”
As an actor, he has appeared in numerous TV dramas such as “Jikan desu yo” (It’s Time), “Saiyūki” (Journey to the West), and “Chura-san,” and he remains highly popular as an MC.
Among the members are Mickey Yoshino, the keyboardist, arranger, and songwriter who leads Godiego and has, since their debut, released a variety of sounds in a drum-vocal style; and Shishido Kavka, who continues to work as a model and actress.
On the day, they plan to perform not only original songs but also Godiego’s classic “Monkey Magic” and The Spiders’ “Ban Ban Ban.”
Please enjoy this memorable stage, which will be their debut performance.
