Todd Rundgren
Overview
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Rundgren picked up the guitar in his teens and formed the psychedelic 60s group The Nazz, the essence of the era's sound and the start of his career. In 1969, he left the band to pursue a solo career, and since then he has released a string of hits, including the legendary debut Runt. Under his singular excellence and passion for creation, he produced music that defined the terms progressive rock and power pop. As a producer, he has worked on albums for Patti Smith, Cheap Trick, Hall & Oates, and other renowned artists, further elevating his reputation as a Renaissance man of rock. Rundgren has also been energetically active in composing soundtracks for films and television series. In 2017, he was awarded honorary doctorates from Berklee College of Music and DePauw University, becoming a doctor in name and in deed who helped shape contemporary music. Don’t miss this milestone moment: his Billboard Live performance, the first in 12 years.
