GoGo Penguin, a next-generation piano trio whose unique “danceable jazz” sets the world alight, has decided to bring their first-ever Japan performances to Billboard Live. Starting out with live shows mainly at clubs in their hometown of Manchester, they released the album FANFARES on an indie Manchester label in 2012. In the same year, Gilles Peterson highlighted it on his popular program as the Best Jazz Album, and it was later included on his compilation, creating buzz. Their second album, V2.0, released in 2014, was nominated for the Mercury Prize, a prestigious British music award, drawing worldwide attention; since then they have continued to release works consistently up to their latest Everything Is Going to Be OK, becoming a mainstay at music festivals around the world. While rooted in jazz, they draw strong influences from classical composers such as Chopin, contemporary music like Brian Eno and John Cage, and from dance music including Aphex Twin, Underworld, as well as techno, drum ’n’ bass, electronica, post-rock, and dubstep. Playing these influences on acoustic instruments, their “acoustic-electronica trio” style delivers an astonishing performance that all music fans should see.

We’re very happy to announce that we will be returning to Japan to perform shows at Billboard Live Yokohama and Billboard Live Tokyo in March 2025.
Whenever we play in Japan, we always have wonderful experiences, so we can’t wait to come back to Japan to perform for everyone. The Yokohama show will be our first there, and the Billboard Live Tokyo show will also be our first.
