Himiko Kikuchi 'Flying Beagle' Reproduction Live
Himiko Kikuchi 『Flying Beagle』 Revisited
Overview
Himiko Kikuchi, one of Japan’s leading keyboardists, will present a live performance recreating her acclaimed 1987 album “Flying Beagle.” She has collaborated with a range of artists, including Takuro Yoshida and Junko Ohashi, and has also been a member of Nobuo Hara’s Sharps & Flats and Minoya Central Station, among others. Together with Masatsugu Matsumoto, she has been active in prestigious bands, and in 1980 she made her recording debut with “Don’t Be Stupid.” Since then she has consistently released solo albums, including overseas recordings, and today she performs in a variety of formats—such as a trio, a jazz quartet, and a string-quartet fusion group called the Himiko Kikuchi Double Quartet. With a lineup of top-tier musicians, and a Japanese fusion masterpiece that has enjoyed explosive popularity overseas, how it will be re-created after 38 years remains to be seen. Don’t miss this one-night-only stage by a 10-person ensemble including a horn section.
