British progressive rock legends ASIA, formed in the United Kingdom, have announced performances at three Billboard Live venues in Japan. The supergroup, which had already established itself with members from Yes and King Crimson, drew huge attention; their self-titled debut album became the best-selling album of 1982 and spent nine consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard charts. They continued to shine afterward, but original member John Wetton passed away in 2017. A tribute concert held in the summer of 2023 to celebrate his life prompted a restart as a new Asia, with Virgil Donati on drums, John Mitchell on guitar, and Harry Whitley on vocals and bass. In spring 2025, under the direction of original member Geoff Downes, they toured on the ASIA Heat of the Moment Tour and played to great acclaim at Billboard Live. This time they plan to recreate the set list from Asia’s 1983 Nippon Budokan show, ASIA IN ASIA, their first-ever visit to Japan.
