Maki Nomiya, who will celebrate her 45th anniversary since debut in 2026, will stage a Billboard Live tour with a “women-only band,” something she had always wanted to try. The bandleader is bassist Yumiko Ohno (Buffalo Daughter); drums by Yuka Yoshimura; keyboards by Risa Takeda; guitar by Hisako Tabuchi (ex NUMBER GIRL).

And the guests: Kyoko Koizumi, whom Nomiya specifically hoped would participate in this show. The two debuted in the 1980s on the same record label and later created music with producers Yasuhiko Konishi and Masayuki Kawakatsu. The other guest is YOU, who answered Nomiya’s invitation. She is now active as an actress and talent, but in 1988 she joined Fairchild as vocalist. At that time Nomiya was with Portable Rock; Nomiya and YOU have both worked in the techn POP field and have shared the stage in performances.

The tour title, “Onna wa Onna de Aru” (A Woman Is a Woman), is of course the title of a Jean‑Luc Godard film, but the image of a woman who lives life freely and unrestrainedly, as portrayed by Anna Karina, is the image that Nomiya, Koizumi, YOU, and this band are tying together.
