Los Retros, the solo project of California-born Mexican-American singer-songwriter Mauri Tapia, makes its debut at Billboard Live. He began making music in his early teens and debuted in 2019 on Stones Throw Records, a West Coast indie label. His sound draws heavily from 70s–80s American/Latin soft rock and left-field pop, while also reflecting influences from Japan's 1980s city pop and jazz fusion; in particular, inspired by Japan's fusion sounds like CASIOPEA, it resonates strongly with Japanese listeners. He is also slated to perform at Coachella, one of the world’s largest music festivals, in April 2026. This time, we will host a three-band show featuring Los Retros, 一十三十一, and JINTANA & EMERALDS. The exchanges among the three acts began with JINTANA & EMERALDS' “Love Again feat. Los Retros,” and developed through collaborations such as on a track from 一十三十一's latest album Telepa Telepa, “Before You Go.” Furthermore, they have deepened their relationship by collaborating on each other's work, including participation on the 2026 debut album Odisea.
