Violinist Tomori Kamei and cellist Sonoko Muraoka form a string-instrument duo. They are musicians who support a wide range of artists, including King Gnu, Vaundy, and Mrs. GREEN APPLE, yet pursue a new musical genre that only string instruments can create, while actively performing live. Six years after their formation, they have steadily broadened their activities, including national tours and performances at the closing ceremony of Expo 2025 Osaka/Kansai.

They make their Billboard Live stage debut with original songs that are classical and academic in texture yet enthrall listeners with a pop-tinted flavor, and with covers that showcase sensibilities cultivated across various scenes. For the band, they have welcomed capable members Handa Akinori (Pf), Tooyama Tetsurō (Gt), and Kudō Akira (Dr), delivering a special stage where refined sounds blend to reveal a new facet of string instruments.

“Expanding the possibilities of string instruments” has been the theme that the two of us have been performing under.
While basing our sound on classical and academic textures, we also pursue a world view that includes a pop-friendly accessibility. Furthermore, by focusing on the strings’ diverse expressive methods and timbres, we are challenging ourselves to carry a main melody on the strings that could rival vocal lines.

We believe that, by continuing to pursue expressions that only violin and cello can realize, a ZARUKAME-like style will take shape.
