Former Chicago vocalist Bill Champlin and Joseph Williams, known as Toto’s renowned lead singer, join forces with Nordic AOR producer/guitar virtuoso Peter Friestedt to form the super-project Champlin Williams Friestedt (CWF), making their long-awaited Billboard Live stage debut.

Joseph Williams, who has film-music legend John Williams as his father, joined Toto in 1986 and served as Toto’s third lead vocalist until 1988. After participating in Toto’s 2010 reunion and thrilling the fans, he has continued to work with the band, and last year he visited Japan on Toto’s Japan tour to celebrate the group’s 45th anniversary.

Bill Champlin joined Chicago in 1982 after his work with the psychedelic rock band the Sons of Champlin and two solo albums produced by David Foster, and until his departure in 2009 he served as Chicago’s vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist/songwriter for nearly 28 years. As a songwriter, he has earned Grammy Awards as a co-writer of songs such as “After the Love Has Gone” (Earth, Wind & Fire) in both the 1970s and 1980s.

Sweden-born Peter Friestedt, who leads CWF, is a generation or two younger than Bill and Joseph, but since childhood he has held boundless respect and admiration for the 80s West Coast sound, and he is a guitarist/songwriter/producer who crafts a flawless contemporary AOR sound. In 2011, he released work with Joseph Williams under the name Joseph Williams & Peter Friestedt. Champlin, who also participated as a guest on that project, joined the three, and in 2015 they released their first album under the Champlin Williams Friestedt name, followed by a second in 2020.

They are truly a dream band, and you can revel in their exquisite harmonies to your heart’s content.
