John Carroll Kirby, a Los Angeles-born pianist, producer, and musician, will take the Billboard Live stage for the first time in about four years. He’s drawn attention for cross-genre activity—from collaborations with Solange and Frank Ocean to appearances at Fuji Rock and Asagiri Jam, as well as a US tour with Khruangbin and participation in a Hosono Haruomi tribute project. In 2020, he released his debut album My Garden on Stones Throw. His latest album Blowout won Best Jazz Album at the A2IM Libera Awards, often regarded as the indie music world’s Grammys. In this rare solo performance at Billboard Live Tokyo and Osaka, he will debut solo-piano works like Conflict and Tuscany in Japan, premiere unreleased tracks for the first time in Japan, and perform existing pieces in new arrangements using piano and synthesizers. Expect a mellow sound that traverses jazz, soul, ambient, and electronic, and a unique musical world that only John Carroll Kirby can create.
