akiko 25th Anniversary
featuring Atsushi Yanaka (Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra)
Guest Yu Hayami
Overview
Jazz singer Akiko, who will celebrate her 25th anniversary since debut this June, will welcome Atsushi Yanaka, the baritone saxophonist of Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, for an anniversary concert. Debuting as Verve’s first Japanese female singer, she has, since last year, released self-cover singles for 12 consecutive months as part of a countdown toward the anniversary. On April 18, she released three 7-inch titles, and on June 21, the anniversary of her debut, she will release a new album compiling self-cover songs, continuing to push into new expressions. In recent years, the close collaboration between the two has drawn much attention, but this performance will depart from previous formats, focusing on “Akiko’s 25th Anniversary.” In addition to Yanaka participating in Akiko’s material, the program will also feature repertoire that has gained popularity from recent collaborations, as well as jazz and Brazilian selections that showcase a new charm distinct from Yanaka’s Ska Paradise Orchestra work. Furthermore, the Tokyo show will feature Yu Hayami as a guest for a one-night-only special stage. Together with a diverse lineup of artists, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable evening celebrating the 25th anniversary.
