Japan’s legendary jazz saxophonist Sadao Watanabe welcomes top players to present his latest stage. Even now, nearly 70 years after he began his musical career, Watanabe remains on the front line and appears with the scene’s leading figures he trusts to carry Japanese jazz— Akira Onozuka (piano), Takumi Ayutani (bass), and Kazunori Takemura (drums). With a gathering of formidable musicians, these two nights will trace a melodic arc up to the present with breathtaking playing, and they are absolutely not to be missed.
