Two men and two women, in a unique lineup of three siblings plus a cousin, Circus debuted in 1978 and, after several member changes, has continued to reign as a pioneer among Japanese vocal groups. In 2018, to mark their 40th anniversary, they released “Mr. Summer Time 2018,” and with “HARMONY” as the keyword they delivered “Beautiful Harmony (Reiwa)” in “American Feeling 2020.” When the video featuring seven current and former members was released, it drew widespread attention. Since 2013, the fifth-generation Circus—a four-member group spanning parent–child generations—has continued to create music that transcends generations and genres.
