Yoshiko Hanzaki, a singer–songwriter from Hokkaido who continues to weave songs while staying close to people’s hearts, makes her first appearance. She discovered music while in university and moved to Tokyo on her own. After 17 years of activity, she was dubbed the “mall songstress” by various media and made her major debut in April 2017. Her album Uta-Ben, which includes songs she wrote for NHK’s Minna no Uta such as “The Bento Box Song: A Letter to You” and “Sakura: To the One Who Could Not Graduate,” scored a long-running hit. She has also maintained a wide range of activities, including the success of a culminating concert at Tokyo International Forum Hall A, and the song she provided for Yoshimi Tendo, “Osaka Koi-Shigure,” was performed at the 70th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen in 2019. On the May stage, you can relax and enjoy Yoshiko Hanzaki’s songs, hoping they will live longer than she does.
